The Life and Times of the Statesman and Administrator Extraordinaire

Diwan Sir Thanjavur Madhava Row

gallery g, Bangalore

The Raja Ravi Varma Heritage Foundation in association with gallery g and the newly-formed Sandeep and Gitanjali Maini Foundation, presented a lecture on the life and times of Diwan Sir Tanjavur Madhava Row by Urmila Rau Lal.

Mrs. Urmila Lal is the biographer of Diwan Madhava Row, Life and Times of Statesman, Administrator Extraordinaire and is the great-great granddaughter of the Diwan. This lecture is special to the Foundation as it was Diwan Sir Madhava Row who introduced Raja Ravi Varma to the court of the Gaekwads of Baroda and suggested the commencement of the lithograph press. The event is most appropriate for the Foundation for two important reasons.

Diwan Sir Madhava Row was the one who encouraged Raja Ravi Varma and the Foundation aims to acknowledge this encouragement. Secondly, the Foundation is Karnataka-based and Sir Madhava Row's family has also contributed immensely to the Mysore Kingdom and to Bengaluru city itself.
